Utility companies have traditionally been challenged with communication to both equipment and personnel located in very remote, often very rugged locations. Satellite communication makes SCADA, load management and other applications that require real time data and access possible.
In utility applications such as SCADA and Load Management, bi-directional ground equipment is required.

Field devices such as RTUs and IEDs can be easily connected to the VSAT. VSATs are an excellent tool for field telemetry of SCADA information coming from several field devices. VSATs have the ability to handle large amounts of data. Telemetry via VSAT is inexpensive, very reliable, and usable virtually anywhere.

Alldean VSATs can support all data interfaces such as RS-232, V.35 and Ethernet to allow easy integration with all types of SCADA/monitoring systems.

In addition to the telemetry and monitoring, the same VSAT can be used for enhanced voice, fax, data and Internet communications.
